The Maritime and Aviation Group ( International) Limited – Press Release

Exciting times ahead as we formalise our ongoing collaboration with The Maritime and Aviation Group (International) Limited.

This partnership strengthens the wider offering into the maritime and aviation sectors, and with the added flex of a range of specialist consultants located across the globe, allows us all to engage upon significantly larger projects.

We also send our very best wishes to Captain John M Cox upon his well earned retirement.
G & W Marine Limited logoPress Release

ALL CHANGE: Well known, respected and regarded with great affection within the maritime world, Captain John M Cox has finally decided to hang up his sea-boots and retire after nearly 35 years at the helm, as President and Chairman of The Maritime Group (International) (TMG).

The Bremerton, WA, USA office is closing, and the HQ of the Group will shift to London, UK.

We all wish Captain (Jack) Cox a well-deserved retirement.

Captain Malcolm W Parrott will assume the mantle of President and Chairman in the interim until a new President & Chairman is appointed.

The Maritime Group (International) Limited (TMGE), the UK arm of The Maritime Group (International), is metamorphosing into The Maritime & Aviation Group (international) Limited (TMAG) with immediate effect.

Captain Malcolm W Parrott, the current Managing Director, will remain in post but will be joined by new directors: Mr Lee R Foster as Deputy MD, Captain Michael Monro as Aviation Operations Director and Mr Francis M O’Neill as Marine and Technical Operations Director.

All have been working with TMG as independent consultants for at least the last five years and, in some cases, longer.

The company will continue to centre on ferries and ports, ship management and maritime evaluation studies but will now also add small airfields, privately owned aircraft and small aviation companies to its portfolio.

Although Captain Parrott’s background is primarily in maritime, he also has an aviation background, holding in the past a commercial pilot’s licence and being a fully qualified air traffic controller in New Zealand.

Captain Monro’s background is military as a pilot in the UK’s Army Air Corp, then progressing to British Airways as Captain of large passenger jets and finally into aviation management.

For the last four years Captain Monro has been immersed in maritime with TMG, setting up a maritime freight service.

Mr Lee Foster has been allied with TMG for some time as MD of G & W Marine Limited Limited, Naval Architects and Marine Engineers of Birkenhead, UK.

Mr Foster is a UK-registered Chartered Engineer and Chartered Marine Engineer, specialising in new build and shipyard operations.

Mr Francis (Frank) O’Neill has worked as an independent consultant and prior to this was the Operations and Technical Manager of The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, having served in their vessels for many years as Chief Engineer Officer before moving ashore.

Captain Parrott said this is a major and exciting shift in our company.

“It is further anticipated that the rest of TMG’s international independent companies will follow suit over the next 6 months, taking on board aviation responsibilities.”

Woodside Ferry Terminal Replacement scheme

We continue to support our client Merseytravel as Principal Designers and Critical Friends for the scheme of replacements at Woodside. This involves removal and decommissioning of the existing structures and the replacement of both landing stage and passenger bridge. The addition of a piled solution for the landing stage as opposed to conventional moorings completes the works.

Seacombe Passenger Ferry Terminal – 25 year life extension

G&W Marine have recently completed another major project this time managing the complete scheme of works on behalf of Merseytravel and the local combined authority. The project involved the decommissioning of two victorian era link spans and associated retaining booms. once removed the landing stage was temporarily moored awaiting installation of the new link spans and refurbished retaining booms. The landing stage was overhauled throughout all of its internal ballast tanks, new hydraulic gangways have been installed and upgrades to both electrical and mechanical services have been completed. The scheme took nearly two years to complete and has proven to be significantly complex.
